Incredible fireball spotted over Kent
An incredible fireball was spotted over Kent on Tuesday (Oct 7) evening.
Skywatcher Jamie McBean managed to capture the spectacle on his home's security camera in Herne Bay at 7:10pm.
He said: "It was a sporadic fireball which are uncommon and don't tend to happen very often - certainly the brightest one I've captured in the 3 or 4 years I've had that camera facing north."
"I suspect more people saw it as people were looking out for the Harvest moon last night."
On social media, Veronica Dickinson commented: "I heard a boom and the house shook Herne bay."
A fireball is an exceptionally bright meteor that appears much brighter than any of the planets in the night sky.
It is caused by a larger meteoroid burning up as it enters Earth's atmosphere at high speed, producing a brilliant streak of light.
