Sacramento, United States - October 06, 2025 A 25-second video captures flashing red and blue emergency lights around the wreckage of a red-and-white REACH Air Medical Services helicopter on eastbound US Highway 50 near 59th Street. The crash occurred shortly after departing UC Davis Medical Center on October 6, 2025, during an empty return flight. Firefighters in full gear surrounded the fuselage as scattered rotor blades and tail debris lay across the asphalt under an overpass. Ambulances and fire engines lined the highway while paramedics attended to the victims amid barriers, with no other vehicles involved. The helicopter’s pilot, flight nurse Suzie Smith, and a paramedic were all transported to area hospitals in critical condition. Sacramento Fire Department confirmed that crews arrived Monday evening to find the three victims in serious condition and immediately transported them to UC Davis, the region’s trauma center.
