Rescue team saves elderly woman trapped in narrow gap between houses
Firefighters rescued a grandmother who fainted while trapped between two house walls.
Rescuers raced to the property after Mursidah, 71, squeezed herself through the tight space in Surabaya, East Java, on Sunday afternoon.
Footage shows officers battling to reach the distressed pensioner wedged in the 40 centimetre (15 inches) gap.
The crew spent nearly two hours trying to dislodge the unconscious Mursidah. They managed to pull her out safely and she was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
Wasis Sutikno, head of the Surabaya Fire and Rescue Agency, said: 'The team immediately after receiving the report, and arrived at the location at 5:03 pm.
'The victim was safely evacuated using a roll-up stretcher. The operation was declared complete at 6:45 pm.'
Mursidah's grandson said she was visiting a relative's house and had decided to take a shortcut through the narrow gap between homes.
He added: 'However, after only walking a few meters, she suddenly fell and lost consciousness and she was trapped between the walls.'
In a similar incident in June, grandmother Rami, 74, also from East Java, had to be rescued by firefighters after becoming stuck between two house walls while taking a shortcut home.
Officers demolished part of a wall to free her after 15 minutes, and she was treated for minor abrasions before returning home safely.
