VARIOUS OF CROWD IN GAZA STREETSGAZA, PALESTINE - OCTOBER 09: The ceasefire agreement reached in Gaza, expected to take effect soon, has given hope to the Palestinian people. Celebrating the anticipated truce with great enthusiasm, residents distributed sweets as a gesture of joy and relief. Palestinians, who said the agreement was the most hopeful news they had received in the past two years, expressed their wish that it would be a “new beginning” for the people of Gaza. The Palestinians thanked all the countries that contributed to the agreement and the international community that stood by them, noting that Türkiye played an important role in this agreement. In addition, the Palestinian people, who want the reconstruction of Gaza and the healing of wounds after two years of genocide, called for the urgent provision of medicines, especially for the treatment of patients. US President Donald Trump announced late Monday that Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas had signed off on the first phase of a US-proposed Gaza deal. The 20-point plan, first announced on Sept. 29, includes the release of all Israeli captives in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, a ceasefire, the disarmament of Hamas, and the rebuilding of Gaza. Since October 2023, Israeli attacks have killed over 67,000 Palestinians in the enclave, most of them women and children. The relentless bombardment has left Gaza largely uninhabitable, leading to widespread starvation and disease.
