Smart crocodile uses stork to find fish and swoop in at last minute

Footage shows a smart crocodile using a stork to find fish in a river before swooping in and taking the catch.

The filmer said: "In the pool of water was a young crocodile lying silent the whole time. Then I observed behavior I have never seen before and started filming. It became clear quickly that the stork and crocodile was in the shallow pool for the same reason.

"They were there to finish off the last small fish remaining trapped in the isolated river pools. While first thought comes to mind that the croc might take the stork, the two totally different species of animals were working together to get a meal.

"The stork would walk up and down, feeling through the water with its bill halfway open. I could see the crocodile took note of this and patiently waited until the stork would move closer, chasing the fish towards the crocodile in the process.

"Each time the stork came closer, the young crocodile would snap at the opportunities swimming its way. While it took a while, both crocodile and stork managed to get a meal out of the process. With patience, clever tactics and smart thinking, the young crocodile displayed why they are such formidable hunters and long living creatures."
