He stressed that the focus of the trip is business-to-business engagement, investment, and job creation, rather than immigration changes. The UK’s trade deal with India, signed in July, will make UK cars and whisky cheaper to export and Indian textiles and jewellery cheaper to bring into the UK. The deal includes a three-year exemption on social security for short-term Indian workers, but ministers confirmed there are no wider visa policy changes.
