Garfield Heights Police Use PIT Maneuver to Arrest Robbery Suspect
GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio — A fleeing robbery suspect with an active warrant was taken into custody Monday after officers used a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver to safely end a pursuit.
According to the Garfield Heights Police Department, the incident occurred on October 6 when officers attempted to stop the suspect, who then fled in a vehicle. Using the PIT maneuver, officers were able to bring the pursuit to a controlled stop and arrest the individual without injury.
A stolen firearm was recovered at the scene. Police credited training and quick decision-making for the safe resolution.
