Disabled father battles through intense shaking to give speech at daughter's wedding
A disabled father bravely battled through intense shaking to deliver a heartfelt speech for his daughter on her wedding day.
The devoted parent Rodrigo Elisterio suffers from a condition that causes uncontrollable tremors, but despite his difficulty speaking clearly and maintaining balance, he was determined to express his love for his child.
Footage shows him standing on the platform, trembling between words as an event planner stood nearby to support him in case he lost balance in Tagaytay, the Philippines.
Rodrigo said: 'My daughter, you have been through so much.'
His emotional words moved the bride to tears as she listened to her father struggle to continue.
He added: 'I know you love each other so much. You have been together since you were in high school. I am thankful for both of you. I love you, my children.'
As Rodrigo finished his speech, his shaking intensified, but he managed to complete his message before being gently assisted back to his chair.
The crowd erupted into applause and cheers.
Event planner Alyssa mae Reponte said Rodrigo was not supposed to give a speech.
She said: 'He was only meant to have a short dance with his daughter because of his condition.
'But he suddenly ran to the centre and insisted on giving a speech. He was so happy and enjoying his daughter's wedding so much even while sitting down that we were afraid he might fall, though someone was always beside him to help. Everyone was surprised and deeply moved when he spoke.'
