A tourist captured the unusual moment a dog was spotted riding alone on a ski chairlift.

Ani Kashia, 23, was on holiday in Mestia, Georgia, with her husband, Markozi Shavgulidze, 23, when they noticed the unexpected passenger.

The couple were travelling on a ski lift from Mestia to the Hatsvali Ski Resort when they saw the dog calmly heading in the opposite direction - completely by itself.

Ani's video, filmed on August 30, shows the dog gliding down the mountain, sitting comfortably in the middle of the six-person chairlift.

Ani, from Kutaisi, Georgia, said: "We were so surprised."

"It was so strange to see the dog alone, but it seemed perfectly calm!"

"It was a nice addition to the journey."
