Tourists scatter as wave breaks onto promenade in China
This is the dramatic moment tourists scatter as a powerful wave crashes onto a promenade in China.
Footage shows a sudden swell smashing into a crowd gathered near the barrier, forcing them to quickly step back along the Qiantang River in Hangzhou.
Some panicked visitors can be seen slipping on the wet pavement as they are swept by the water on October 9.
No injuries were reported from the incident.
The Qiantang River Tide attracts thousands of tourists yearly due to its famous tidal bore.
The phenomenon occurs when ocean tides forcefully surge into the river's narrow mouth, creating massive waves that can reach heights of up to 30ft (9m).
