Dayton, Ohio Officer Rescues Woman Trapped Inside Burning Home
DAYTON, Ohio — A Dayton police officer is being praised for his bravery after rescuing a woman trapped inside a burning apartment early Friday morning.
Around 3:50 a.m. on October 10, Officer Espino was the first to arrive at a fire assist call in the 600 block of Summit Square Drive. Upon learning that a resident was still inside, he forced entry into the building to reach her.
The woman, suffering from smoke inhalation, managed to escape the flames and received medical attention on scene.
Body-worn camera footage released by the Dayton Police Department shows Officer Espino’s quick response and decisive actions under pressure.
“We’re proud of his courage and service to our community,” the department said.
