Turtle seen tangled in discarded rope rescued by passing fishermen
A sea turtle found tangled in discarded rope was rescued by passing fishermen.
Footage shows the marine animal with a plastic cord tightly wrapped around its neck and body in Gorontalo, Indonesia.
A crew member pulled the creature onboard and laid it on its back before his friend used a knife to cut the twine.
They struggled to keep the distressed reptile still as it waved its flippers, but they eventually managed to remove the debris and release it safely back into the sea.
Trawler Sealtiel sulungunaung said: 'We just could not leave the poor creature lying in the water.'
Sea turtles are often found entangled in debris such as discarded fishing nets, plastic ropes, and other floating trash. These materials can wrap tightly around their necks, flippers, or shells, making it difficult for them to swim, feed, or surface for air.
