The storm brought torrential rain and strong winds, causing rivers to overflow and flood residential areas, shops, and local infrastructure.
Homes and businesses were submerged as residents and emergency crews worked to clear debris and drain water from affected neighborhoods.
Typhoon Matmo is the latest in a succession of storms to hit northern Vietnam, leaving widespread flooding and damage across the region.
Vietnam has faced multiple natural disasters in 2025, including Typhoon Matmo, which triggered severe flooding and landslides in the north.
According to local sources, disasters left 238 people dead or missing and damaged about 258,000 houses, with Matmo and related storms accounting for 15 deaths and 7 injuries.
Floods inundated approximately 221,000 homes, destroyed roads, and caused power outages affecting more than 500,000 people.
