An eccentric Thai businessman is offering a reward to anyone who will slap his unfaithful son's mistress 10 times.

Durian fruit tycoon Arnon Rodthong, 65, put up the bounty after his married heir Dolyawat reportedly abandoned his wife, Raphasanan, and business duties to live with his younger lover, Onweera.

The furious mogul, who owns one of the largest durian warehouses in Thailand, said Onweera worked at his company as an accountant. She had been dating his nephew for a year before then setting her sights on Dolyawat.

He said: 'To every gang in Lang Suan district, I'm willing to pay 30,000 baht to anyone who assaults my son's mistress.

'You must slap her in the face at least ten times. Whoever completes the task can claim the money from me. She deserves it because she's having an affair. She is truly wicked.'

During a media interview, Arnon was seen at his farm in Chumphon province clutching a wad of cash to prove he meant business.

He said he was prepared to face legal consequences 'in order to protect his family', claiming his philandering son had squandered a seven million baht (161,294 GBP) house deposit on Onweera, and even threatened his own wife, Raphatsanan, with a gun after being caught.

Footage shows Dolyawat holding a pistol as a furious Raphatsanan confronted him over the affair. He later sped away in a black pickup truck with Onweera in the passenger's seat.

Raphatsanan reported the incident to the Ban Nai Hud district police station on October 6, with Arnon soon posting the bounty on the mistress.

However, the fiery tycoon later rescinded his offer over concerns he was promoting violence.

He said: 'Many people I respect have urged me not to use violence to resolve this matter or set a bad example for the public, so I've decided to cancel it.

'‘From now on, I am cutting all ties with my son. I will confiscate every asset previously placed in his name and have a lawyer reclaim everything in all cases.

‘I forgive him, and he is free to go and make a living on his own. I will have my lawyer transfer ownership of his assets to his daughter, my granddaughter.

‘Since he is behaving poorly, he should not inherit his parents' assets. I will give them to my grandchild instead.

‘Any remainder will be donated to charity.'

Under Section 295 of the Thai Criminal Code, bodily harm is punishable with up to two years' imprisonment, a fine of up to 40,000 baht (921 GBP), or both.
