Speaking after the meeting, Zelenskyy said the discussions with Trump will focus on strengthening Ukraine’s air defense capabilities.
Responding to a question on whether Ukraine could acquire US "Tomahawk" cruise missiles, Zelenskyy said it is "too early" to discuss such matters. He noted that the missiles could potentially be purchased under NATO’s "Ukraine’s Prioritized Needs List (PURL)" program, which oversees the supply of US weapons and equipment to Ukraine.
Zelenskyy also warned that Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure continue and said that they expect electricity-related problems and may have to import electricity after one or two more attacks.
US President Donald Trump said Sunday that he will send Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine if its war with Russia is not settled.
Trump said Ukraine would “like to have Tomahawks” as he left for Israel and Egypt ahead of the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit on a Gaza ceasefire.
