AL-AWDA HOSPITAL DIRECTOR DR AHMED MEHNA GIVING SPEECH TO CROWD (Arabic)GAZA, PALESTINE - OCT. 13, 2025: Dr. Ahmed Mehna, director of al-Awda Hospital, detained during an Israeli military raid on the facility in the northern Gaza Strip, was released on Monday, Oct. 13, as part of a prisoner exchange. Following his release, Mehna received a warm welcome from colleagues and medical staff at al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat Refugee Camp. The releases came after Hamas handed over 20 living Israeli hostages under the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement. The first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement took effect on Friday under US President Donald Trump’s plan to end a two-year Israeli war on the enclave. Since October 2023, Israeli attacks have killed more than 67,800 Palestinians in Gaza, most of them women and children, leaving the enclave largely uninhabitable.
