Police forces intervened with batons as demonstrators from labor unions, Palestinian associations gathered in Piazza della Scala. The protest followed a city council vote that had been delayed last week due to a lack of quorum. During the session, councilors voted on 15 items separately, including a proposal to end Milan’s twinning with Tel Aviv, which failed to pass. After the result, the audience chanted pro-Palestinian slogans and shouted at councilors who abstained or voted against the motion. Following the clashes, a spontaneous procession moved through downtown Milan under heavy security, passing San Babila and Oberdan squares, continuing along Corso Buenos Aires, and ending at Piazzale Loreto. The march remained peaceful, with demonstrators waving Palestinian flags and chanting against Netanyahu and Trump while expressing support for the Palestinian people. Since October 2023, Israeli attacks have killed more than 67,800 Palestinians in Gaza, most of them women and children, leaving the enclave largely uninhabitable.
