VARIOUS OF DRONE SHOTS OF BUSES CARRYING RELEASED PALESTINIAN PRISONERS, CROWD GATHERING IN FRONT OF NASSER HOSPITAL IN KHAN YOUNIS TO WELCOME PRISONERS KHAN YOUNIS, GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - OCT. 13, 2025: A group of Palestinian prisoners released by Israel under a ceasefire agreement was welcomed by crowds in Khan Younis on Monday, Oct. 13. After crossing through Kerem Shalom crossing in the southern Gaza Strip, the released prisoners were taken to the Nasser Medical Complex for medical examinations. The Hamas-run Prisoners’ Media Office said buses carrying freed prisoners from Ofer Prison, west of Ramallah, arrived in the town of Beitunia in the occupied West Bank. The official news agency Wafa confirmed that 96 prisoners serving high jail terms arrived in the town aboard two buses of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The Prisoners’ Media Office also said that 154 freed prisoners were deported to Egypt under the ceasefire deal. It said buses carrying around 1,700 prisoners released from the Negev Prison in southern Israel also arrived in the Gaza Strip. The releases came after Hamas handed over 20 living Israeli hostages under the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement. Last week, Trump announced that Israel and Hamas had agreed to the first phase of a plan he laid out on Sept. 29 to bring a ceasefire to Gaza, release all Israeli captives in exchange for around 2,000 Palestinian prisoners, and a gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from the entire Gaza Strip. Phase two of the plan calls for the establishment of a new governing mechanism in Gaza, without Hamas’ participation, the formation of a multinational force, and the disarmament of Hamas. Since October 2023, Israeli attacks have killed over 67,800 Palestinians in the enclave, most of them women and children, and rendered it largely uninhabitable.
