Phoenix, United States - October 12, 2025 10/12/2025 03:00 am GMT-0700 MESA, Ariz. – Several Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers and Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) personnel responded to the area of US-60 and Gilbert Road for reports of major flooding following heavy rainfall in the area. Both the eastbound and westbound lanes of US-60 were completely inundated by flood waters, prompting a full closure from Stapley Drive to Val Vista Drive. Several motorists were stranded on the mainline after standing water stalled vehicles. Troopers and ADOT workers worked diligently throughout the morning, utilizing patrol vehicles to push stalled cars out of the water and off the mainline. ADOT pump trucks were working to clear obstructed storm drains in the affected areas. The duration of the established closure was not immediately determined.
