US, Los Angeles: Montecito Heights Suspected Arsonist Arrested

Los Angeles, United States - October 14, 2025 10/13/2025 10:30 pm GMT-0700 MONTECITO HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A man was detained Monday night on suspicion of possible arson, according to initial reports. Firefighters with the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a reported brush fire just before 8 p.m. in the 3900 block of East Evadale Drive, which was quickly extinguished. Shortly after 10:30 p.m., LAFD personnel requested police backup for a possible arson suspect who was being held down by bystanders, according to initial reports. Key News video shows a man surrounded by firefighters being taken into custody in the 4600 block of Griffin Avenue, near the earlier fire location. It was not immediately clear if the man was connected to the blaze, but he was reportedly believed to have been attempting to start additional fires nearby when firefighters and bystanders intervened. LAFD’s Arson unit responded to the area. Authorities have not released further details.
