A couple who've spent $100k on fertility treatment say it's "worth it" despite still not having a baby - and have vowed to remain "happily childless" if they don't ever conceive. "

Clare Forry, 40, and her husband, Jason, 43, tied the knot in May 2022 and "immediately" wanted to start trying to have a baby together."

Weeks after the wedding, Clare came off birth control and her doctor ran blood tests which indicated she had low AMH levels – reflecting the number of eggs remaining in her ovaries.

Clare was referred to a fertility clinic, where she underwent tests and procedures - and was told she would only be able to get pregnant with donor eggs.

She then switched clinics, where she underwent IUI and IVF including two egg retrievals and two transfers, but it was unsuccessful.

The couple then switched to a new clinic where doctors ran tests and biopsies on Clare - revealing she had markers for silent endometriosis - a chronic condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside.

They are currently having their fifth round of IVF treatment - with an embryo transfer booked for later this month.

Clare and Jason, a finance manager, estimate they have spent $100k on fertility treatment so far and, despite not yet having a child, say it's "worth it". "

They have vowed to remain "happily childless" if their treatment isn't successful - rather than considering other options such as adoption or surrogacy. "

Clare, a retail manager, from Arlington Heights, Illinois, said: "Our doctor told us we have a 90 percent chance of success, but obviously that is not 100 percent."

"I'm with the best possible doctor to help me navigate this situation."

"If this doesn't work, we won't try again, we are done. We don't want a surrogate - we aren't adopting."

"We decided that we are happy with being childless, knowing that we have tried everything we possibly can."

After tying the knot in May 2022, Clare and Jason immediately started trying for a family.

Clare discovered her AMH levels were low and worried how that may impact their chances of conceiving.

She said: "They told me that I would need donor eggs to have a child."

"That was difficult to hear. When we were on our honeymoon - all we were excited about was getting home to start a family."

"As a woman, not being able to provide a family for your husband is hard, not being able to pass down my genetics was super hard to hear."

"Our clinic wasn't confident that I would be able to get pregnant, and we were so determined that we changed clinics."

In 2023 , Clare started IUI and IVF at a new clinic. They were able to complete two egg retrievals and two egg embryo transfers.

Sadly, the transfers were unsuccessful, and Clare didn't fall pregnant.

Clare said: "When the transfers weren't successful, that was super difficult to hear."

"We had wanted this for so long, and it just felt impossible - that we would never get pregnant."

In January 2024, Clare moved to a new fertility clinic and continued IVF with them.

Straight away, they did four egg retrievals, an IUI, two embryo transfers and a 'mock transfer' - a practice "dry run" of the embryo transfer procedure - to run tests and biopsies on Clare."

Clare said: "The results came back that I had markers for silent endometriosis."

"Since then I have been on medication to suppress the estrogen and put me in a temporary menopause-like state."

Since her diagnosis, Clare and Jason found an egg donor - from the bank of donors at the clinic - and in August 2025 they were able to successfully retrieve 33 eggs from her - with 10 healthy embryos created.

Later this month, Clare will undergo the embryo transfer with the hope of getting pregnant.

Clare said: "The odds are in our favor now to get pregnant."

"We are going through the motions right now. I have my transfer date on October 14th."

"This will be our first attempt at trying to get pregnant with donor egg embryos."

"The doctor said we have a 90% chance of getting pregnant after the second transfer."

Over the last four years, Clare has spent $100k on fertility treatment but said it is "worth it" as they can be happy they tried every possible option."

The pair were able to fund the treatment through their salaries and no-interest credit cards.

Clare said that Jason has been her "rock" and their fertility journey has brought them closer together."

She said: "We are in a good spot, weirdly this has been good for our marriage - our journey has been bittersweet."

"We have had to make a lot of decisions in our lives, we spoke about it and having a family was really important to us."

"We wanted to try every available option, and if it doesn't work, we can be happy knowing we have tried everything."
