VARIOUS OF PALESTINIANS FREED FROM ISRAELI PRISON HUGGING THEIR FAMILIESKHAN YOUNIS, PALESTINE - OCT. 13, 2025: Abdulmuiz Dahlan, a Palestinian who was held in an Israeli prison for 21 months, could not hold back his tears as he embraced his young daughter upon returning to the Gaza Strip after gaining his freedom. He hugged his wife and daughter for a long time after being reunited with them after almost two years. Speaking to Anadolu, "Thank Allah. This freedom is the result of the resistance and patience of our people. The Palestinian resistance did not spare any sacrifice", Dahlan said. Regarding how he felt after regaining his freedom, "It is an indescribable feeling. I thank Allah first, then our people who resisted with determination and the (Palestinian) resistance that did its best to save us," he said. "Praise be, we came out of the graveyard of the living”, he stressed, explaining that they were living under extremely difficult conditions and were subjected to ill-treatment such as hunger and torture in the Israeli prison. "We will not forget, we will not forgive, we will not pardon." Some Palestinians released from Israeli prisons under the prisoner exchange agreement were seen with signs of torture on their hands and feet, appearing weak and exhausted due to Israel’s policy of starvation. US President Donald Trump announced last week that Israel and Hamas had agreed to the first phase of a plan he laid out on Sept. 29 to bring a ceasefire to Gaza, release all Israeli captives in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, and a gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from the entire Gaza Strip. The first phase of the deal came into force on Friday. Earlier Monday, the release of Palestinians imprisoned in Israeli jails began after Hamas freed all 20 living Israeli captives held in the Gaza Strip. Phase two calls for the establishment of a new governing mechanism in Gaza, the formation of a multinational force, and the disarmament of Hamas. Since October 2023, Israeli attacks have killed over 67,800 Palestinians in the enclave, most of them women and children, and rendered it largely uninhabitable.
