Four Israeli soldiers arrested at 'drug-fueled party on Thai Full Moon Party island while celebrating Trump ceasefire'
Four Israeli soldiers were arrested for allegedly holding a drug-fuelled party on a Thai island - to celebrate the Donald Trump ceasefire.
The holidaymakers stripped to their shorts and sank shots of tequila on Monday night to mark the Gaza-Israel truce brokered by the US leader.
But neighbours complained about the noise before officers raided the villa in Koh Samui, southern Thailand, in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Footage shows police searched the rented holiday home as Danial Uri Simon, 26, David Itzik Leibovitch, 26, Kfir Peretz, 26, and Guy Levy, 27, had been listening to loud music at 2:40 am local time.
The cops checked the men's passports but noticed them 'acting suspiciously' during questioning. One of the tourists kept trying to block the dining table, where officers allegedly discovered a packet of cocaine.
The Israelis were arrested with 0.02 ounces (0.59 grams) of cocaine and pink ecstasy powder weighing 0.05 ounces (1.37 grams) hidden in a wallet.
Police said Simon and Peretz tested positive for methamphetamine and cocaine, while Leibovitch and Levy tested positive for cocaine.
The tourists allegedly admitted they had bought the drugs from an Israeli friend during a party with around 10 to 15 other Israelis. They allegedly admitted that they bought the banned substances to celebrate upon learning the news of the Gaza ceasefire.
However, a French neighbour called in a noise complaint, leading to the discovery of the narcotics among the men, who were reportedly on leave from the Israeli military.
Police Colonel Apichart Chansamret, superintendent of the Koh Phangan Police Station, said: ‘We charged all four suspects with illegally possessing category I and category II narcotics for consumption.
‘Additionally, we charged Simon and Peretz with illegally consuming category I and category II narcotics.
‘Leibovitch and Levy were charged with illegally consuming category II narcotics.
‘All suspects and the seized drugs were handed over to the inquiry officer for further legal action.'
US President Donald Trump has declared the 'war is over' as he flew to Israel for the release of Gazan hostages under a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas.
He said in a speech to the Israeli Knesset: 'This is not only the end of war – this is the end of an age of terror and death.
'Israel, with our help, has won all that it can by force of arms. Now it's time to translate those victories against terrorists on the battlefield into the ultimate prize of peace and prosperity for the entire Middle East.'
The ceasefire took effect on Friday morning amid mounting international calls for Israel to halt its bloody campaign after being accused of genocide in Gaza.
However, political analysts said that for the shaky peace to last, constant pressure must be maintained on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whose far-right allies have criticised the truce.
The idyllic island of Koh Samui, around an hour by plane from Bangkok, has been dubbed White Lotus Island following the success of the HBO series that was recorded there.
But the tropical paradise has gained a reputation for hedonism, with drugs widely available and women offering themselves for as little as 1,000 Baht a night.
