Phoenix, United States - October 15, 2025 10/15/2025 12:31 am GMT-0700 MESA, Ariz. – According to preliminary information, Phoenix police officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a motorcyclist with a passenger near the SR-51 and Thomas Road early Wednesday morning. The reason for the stop has not yet been confirmed. As the officer activated their lights and siren, the rider fled. Ground units disengaged as a Phoenix Police Department helicopter arrived overhead to track the motorcycle, while ground units maintained a safe distance and worked to devise a plan for stopping the suspect. The motorcyclist then entered the L-202 Red Mountain, heading eastbound, before exiting onto Power Road and continuing northbound. Officers took the rider into custody shortly thereafter. During the chase, the female passenger disembarked from the motorcycle and fled on foot. She remains at large.
