Restaurant tables and chairs were blown over as a powerful storm whipped through a street in Malaysia.

Dramatic footage shows high-speed winds and heavy rain battering the Klang District in Selangor State on Tuesday afternoon, October 14.

Several chairs were seen being dragged along the pavement by strong gusts as the freak weather swept through. Road signs and other debris were also toppled.

Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, Assistant Director of the Operations and Firefighting Division of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) in Selangor, said the strong winds caused damage to several houses and uprooted trees.

Rescue teams also responded to reports of a 62-year-old woman trapped in a house after its roof was destroyed by the storm.

Mukhtar said: 'The victim was successfully evacuated by firefighters and sustained no injuries before being handed over to her family.'

The storm is also believed to have affected several street vendor stalls. Disaster management teams are continuing efforts to repair damaged structures.
