This is the dramatic moment a quick-thinking woman used an oil bucket to save her husband from an electric shock.

The man had been checking the electrical wiring near the doorway when he suffered an electric jolt, while his wife was cleaning the kitchen behind him in Zhejiang, China.

CCTV footage shows him squatting on the floor before suddenly standing up and screaming for help as his arms locked together around the live wires on September 25.

Upon hearing his cries, his wife quickly grabbed the oil container nearby and hurled it at the wires to free her husband's hands, which were clasped tightly around them.

She slipped and fell during the process but immediately stood back up to check on her visibly distressed spouse.

Moments later, she turned off the fuse switch on the wall and helped her husband sit on a chair to assess his condition.

The man reportedly did not sustain any serious injuries from the incident.
