This is the dramatic moment bystanders helped tackle a raging car fire at a petrol station.

Footage shows the blaze engulfing a minivan next to a fuel pump at the Pertamina station in Cimahi, Indonesia, on October 12.

Thick black smoke can be seen billowing around the area while gas attendants attempt to douse the blaze with water.

Moments later, quick-thinking onlookers brought fire extinguishers and directed them at the flames, spewing white fumes. However, the stubborn fire continued to consume the vehicle and the pump posts.

The fire brigade rushed to the scene and successfully extinguished the fire, revealing the burned four-wheeler and heavily damaged pump.

No one was injured in the incident. Police are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
