TURKISH DISASTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATION (AFAD) MEMBERS WAVING OFF TO HUMANITARIAN AID TRUCKS LEAVING EL ARISH PORTEL ARISH, EGYPT - OCT. 18: Türkiye dispatched 25 humanitarian aid trucks from Egypt’s El Arish Port to the Rafah border crossing on Saturday, Oct. 18, carrying supplies for civilians in the Gaza Strip. The 17th “Goodness Ship,” departed on Tuesday from Türkiye’s southern Mersin International Port and reached Al Arish Port after a voyage across the Mediterranean. Coordinated by Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the ship carried about 900 tons of aid supplies prepared to help meet the urgent needs of Gaza residents. The cargo includes ready-to-eat meals, canned goods, and baby formula. The 17th “Goodness Ship” is part of Türkiye’s ongoing humanitarian efforts to deliver relief as humanitarian suffering deepens in Gaza, continuing a series of aid missions sent since the start of the crisis. The ceasefire was reached between Israel and Hamas last week, based on a plan presented by US President Donald Trump. Phase one included the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. The plan also envisages the rebuilding of Gaza and the establishment of a new governing mechanism without Hamas. Since October 2023, the Israeli genocidal war has killed 68,116 people and injured 170,200 others, the Gaza Health Ministry said on Saturday.
