US, Los Angeles: Burbank No Kings Protest Part 1
Los Angeles, United States - October 18, 2025 10/18/2025 02:30 am GMT-0700 BURBANK, Calif. – Thousands of demonstrators gathered today in Southern California as part of the nationwide “No Kings” protest movement, a coordinated event sweeping across more than 2,600 U.S. cities. Key News Network captured a local protest in Burbank, one of dozens scattered across the Los Angeles metropolitan area. Protesters gathered at Abraham Lincoln Park, one of many “No Kings” demonstrations happening across the region and the nation. Members of the community began taking to the streets Saturday afternoon shortly after 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Buena Vista and West Verdugo Avenue. In downtown Los Angeles, the rally centers on and around City Hall and the Civic Center district, with protesters carrying signs reading “No Thrones — No Crowns — No Kings,” evoking the movement’s name. Locally, the demonstrations also came amid heightened tensions over recent federal immigration enforcement actions and the deployment of federal law enforcement and National Guard assets in the city. Organizers emphasize that the “No Kings” protests represent a broader campaign against what they describe as the consolidation of presidential power, erosion of democratic norms, and disregard for civil-service protections. The movement’s message: that the U.S. is not meant to be ruled by a king. In Washington, D.C., and across the country, speakers and activists rallied under the same banner, linking the Los Angeles event to the national effort. While scheduled protests in many cities remained peaceful, some locations — particularly Los Angeles in previous waves — have seen tension with law enforcement, leading to curfews and crowd-control measures. Supporters say the movement is a patriotic expression of civic engagement; critics —particularly some Republican officials — have labeled it “anti-American” or tied it to extremist groups. Los Angeles officials remain watchful for possible escalation. The national movement, meanwhile, is being touted by its backers as one of the largest coordinated protest efforts in U.S. history.
