A group of women are 'milked' in shocking protest highlighting the horrors of dairy farming in London

A dozen women attached to DIY milking machines take part in a performance art piece about the realities of dairy farming (October 18).

The protest took place outside the British Museum as guests were arriving for the Pink Ball fundraising event, and earlier in the day outside the Royal Academy and the Frieze Fair, led by artist and activist Stephanie Lane, who asks bystanders to think about the ethical concerns of consuming dairy, which requires continual pregnancies and exploitation of cows as commodities.

Using humans in the art pieces she aims to challenge speciesism - the idea that humans are superior to other animals.
