Bangladesh’s largest airport, Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, suspended all flights for several hours on Saturday as firefighters battled a massive blaze at its cargo terminal. The fire, which broke out shortly after 2 p.m. local time, sent thick black smoke billowing across the capital and took nearly three dozen firefighting units—assisted by air force and navy personnel—around seven hours to extinguish.

Flights resumed around 9 p.m., according to the Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority, as officials began assessing the cause and extent of the damage. The incident marked the third major fire in the country within five days, reigniting concerns over industrial safety and infrastructure standards.
