FIREFIGHTERS RESPONDING FIRE WEST BANK, PALESTINE - OCT. 19: Illegal Israeli settlers, under the protection of the Israeli army, attacked Palestinian farmers while harvesting olive trees in the occupied West Bank, on Sunday (Oct. 19), witnesses said. Illegal Israeli settlers attacked Palestinians and international activists harvesting olives in the town of Turmus Ayya, northeast of Ramallah, and set two Palestinian-owned vehicles on fire. According to data by the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, illegal Israeli settlers carried out 7,154 assaults on Palestinians and their properties in the occupied West Bank over the course of two years, which resulted in the death of 34 Palestinians and forced migration of 33 Bedouin communities. Local authorities said that more than 1,051 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank, around 10,300 wounded, and over 20,000 arrested, including 1,600 children, since the Gaza war began two years ago. In a landmark opinion last July, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory illegal and called for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
