SHOTLIST: SUWAYDA, SYRIA (OCT. 19, 2025) (ANADOLU - ACCESS ALL) 1. VARIOUS OF PASSAGE OF AID CONVOY / UN HUMANITARIAN AID BANNER ON TRUCKSUWAYDA, SYRIA - OCT. 19, 2025: An aid convoy of 16 vehicles prepared under the coordination of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) and a commercial convoy of more than 100 trucks have reached the city of Suwayda in the country's south, according to reports on Sunday (Oct. 19). The aid and commercial convoys reached the city center, passing through the Mtuneh corridor located in the northern countryside of Suwayda, according to a report by the official Syrian television channel Al-Ikhbariyah. The aid convoy included essential items such as food parcels, ready-to-eat meals, drinking water, and diapers for the region's war-hit civilians. - Clashes in Suwayda and Israeli attacks Suwayda has observed a ceasefire since July 19 following a week of deadly armed clashes between Druze groups and Bedouin tribes and Israeli military attacks. Israel has cited “protection of the Druze” to justify escalations against Syria and expanded its occupation of the Syrian Golan Heights by seizing the demilitarized buffer zone, which Damascus has denounced as blatant interference. Syria has called for enforcing the 1974 disengagement agreement between the two sides. Israel also launched hundreds of airstrikes targeting Syrian military sites, including air fields, missile systems and air defense installations. On Sept. 16, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani announced a seven-step roadmap to resolve the crisis in the southern city of Suwayda, following talks in Damascus with his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi, and US envoy to Syria Tom Barrack. Addressing a press conference, Shaibani said the plan seeks to ensure uninterrupted humanitarian and medical aid to Suwayda, restore essential services to enable a return to normal life, and deploy local security forces to secure roads and facilitate movement. The plan also aims to compensate those affected and allow the return of displaced persons, clarify the fate of the missing, launch a reconciliation process that includes all communities in the province and hold accountable “all those whose hands are stained with assaults on civilians and their property,” he added.
