On Saturday, October 18, thousands marched from Marble Arch to Whitehall in London to protest the government’s proposed “BritCard” digital ID system, citing privacy concerns and potential surveillance. The plan, set to be mandatory by 2029 for verifying work eligibility, has drawn over 2.8 million petition signatures and opposition from around 50 Labour MPs.
