Mesquite, Texas Officer Pulls Driver From Burning Car After Highway Crash
MESQUITE, Texas — A Mesquite police officer is being praised for heroic action after rescuing a driver from a burning vehicle following a crash early September 30, officials said.
Around 12:10 a.m., the officer witnessed a single-vehicle crash on the highway after the driver struck a concrete barrier. As the car quickly caught fire, the officer ran toward the flames and pulled the driver to safety.
The department said the officer’s decisive response prevented a tragedy and highlighted the everyday courage shown by law enforcement.
“This act of bravery is a powerful reminder of the courage and commitment our officers show every day — and of the dangers of impaired driving,” the department wrote.
No one else was injured. Police urge drivers to plan ahead, call a friend, or use rideshare options instead of driving under the influence.
