Continuous lightning strikes leave locals terrified in Bangkok
A series of continuous lightning flashes left locals terrified in Bangkok.
Spectacular footage shows bolts illuminating the evening sky through dark clouds over the Thai capital on October 16.
The uninterrupted display lasted for more than five minutes, without a single sound of thunder.
The phenomenon, known as heat lightning, occurs when lightning from distant thunderstorms lights up the sky without audible thunder, as the sound is too far away to be heard.
These silent flashes, often seen on warm and humid nights, may also result from intra-cloud lightning, where thunder is muffled within the clouds.
