FRANKLIN, Tenn. — Morning commuters on Horton Lane got an unexpected slowdown Wednesday — not from traffic or construction, but from a wandering horse taking a leisurely walk down the road.

According to the City of Franklin, Officer Steve Small used his cruiser lights to calmly guide the four-legged traveler toward West Main Street, where ranch hands and Officer Erick Lee were waiting to help corral the horse.

The unusual traffic situation ended safely, with the horse returned home without incident. The city jokingly referred to the encounter as part of its “Neigh-borhood Watch,” reminding residents that not all morning patrols involve horsepower of the mechanical kind.
