Apache Junction, United States - October 13, 2025 On October 13, 2025, at around 8:38 PM, a 59-year-old Chandler man’s vehicle was swept into Weekes Wash near 4th Avenue and Tomahawk Road amid fast-moving waters. Officers from the Apache Junction Police Department arrived quickly and contacted the driver, instructing him to remain inside the car for safety. Using a rope from a patrol vehicle, one end was thrown to the driver. After securing it, an officer entered the rushing wash, reached the vehicle, and helped the driver safely exit. Both the officer and the driver made it back to the roadway unharmed. Superstition Fire and Medical arrived on scene to evaluate the man and confirmed he had no injuries. Once water levels dropped, the vehicle was recovered and towed to the driver’s residence. Authorities reminded the public of the dangers of driving near flash flood-prone areas during heavy water flow.
