DAMASCUS, SYRIA - OCT. 21: Syrian Interior Ministry forces seized 12 million Captagon pills in a joint operation with the Anti-Narcotics Department in the countryside of Damascus on Tuesday, Oct. 21, according to state-run news agency SANA.

Authorities said the operation targeted a smuggling network in the al-Dumayr area following surveillance efforts that uncovered plans to traffic large quantities of drugs abroad.

Officials confirmed that all 12 million pills were confiscated during the raid.

The bust comes amid ongoing instability in Syria following President Bashar Assad’s flight to Russia last December, ending the Baath Party’s rule that began in 1963.
