Israel reopens border crossings, aid entry far below Gaza's urgent need
Storyline: Trucks loaded with humanitarian aid have been entering the Gaza Strip through Kerem Shalom and Kissufim border crossings after the Monday reopening, carrying fuel for hospitals, water facilities, medicine and food. Israel reopened the border crossings on Monday for aid delivery into the Gaza Strip, one day after closing them for what Israel called a violation of ceasefire by Hamas. However, the limited delivery marks a small step forward as relevant international organizations warned that amount of the aid delivered remains far below the urgent need of Gaza's more than 2 million residents. Facing severe shortages of food, clean water and medical supplies, the residents are still calling on the international community to increase the volume of aid and ensure its safe and immediate entry to Gaza. Hamas said that its delegation headed by Khalil al-Hayya would meet mediating Qatari and Egyptian officials in Cairo on Monday to discuss the continuation of the fragile Gaza ceasefire.
