Grand Mound, United States - October 11, 2025 In the early morning hours of October 11, 2025, a Thurston County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to stop a recklessly driven vehicle on Old Highway 99. The driver lost consciousness at times and fled at speeds reaching 120 mph. Attempting to travel the wrong way on I-5, the suspect crashed into a ditch and ran on foot. A 300-yard foot pursuit ensued across all lanes of the interstate, with a second deputy joining the chase. The suspect became entangled in a barb wire fence, ending up stuck upside down. Medics evaluated the individual and placed them in a patrol car. During the interview, the suspect vomited on the deputy’s pants and boots and continued vomiting inside the back seat of the car. Authorities noted the suspect was heavily intoxicated, possessed an open container in the vehicle, and had an active DUI warrant. After being cleared from the hospital, deputies obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s blood. The suspect was booked into TCSO jail for attempting to elude, obstructing, driving on a suspended license, DUI, reckless endangerment, and the existing warrant. The deputy changed his pants and completed his shift. The department noted the upcoming police station will help deputies clean up after incidents like this.
