Dozens of tourists were caught with cocaine and laughing gas at a nightclub in Bangkok.

The holidaymakers allegedly partied with the illegal drugs before cops raided the venue along the road Soi Ratchaprarop 14 in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Video shows more than 100 cops storming the dimly lit nightclub, where several tourists were found drinking alcohol with scantily clad female Thai sex workers.

Police halted the revelry and ordered both the patrons and staff to undergo drug testing. Eleven Thais and 11 foreigners were arrested after reportedly testing positive for drugs.

Officers also seized ziploc bags of cocaine, crystal meth, numerous balloons filled with laughing gas, and a black Suzuki Swift car.

Authorities said the raid came following investigations into a Nigerian suspected drug dealer and his wife allegedly selling narcotics at the nightclub.

The venue - which also doubles as a love hotel - was also the subject of numerous complaints for operating well past closing hours.

Police Major Suriya Singkamol, secretary-general of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB), said: ‘Thai suspects will be handed over to Din Daeng Police Station for further processing before being sent to the Public Health Centre for rehabilitation.

‘The foreign suspects will be prosecuted by Din Daeng Police Station on charges of narcotic consumption before being transferred to the Immigration Bureau for deportation.

‘The Ratchathewi District Office has taken action against the establishment by notifying the manager about the charges, including operating a food and music venue without a permit, being a gathering place for illegal activities, and operating beyond legal hours.'

The Nigerian suspect and two Thai workers face additional charges of 'possessing Category I and II narcotics for commercial purposes'.

Under Thai law, 'Category I' narcotics include heroin, methamphetamine, and other synthetic drugs.

Importing or exporting the substances carries a maximum punishment of the death penalty - though rarely used - followed by life in prison. Mitigating factors may help the sentence to be reduced to no less than 10 to 20 years.

Cocaine is classified as a 'Category II' narcotic in Thailand. Importers, producers, and exporters face jail sentences depending on the amount, with the most severe being life behind bars.

Despite the severe penalties in law, many tourists are able to 'negotiate' with Thai authorities who are not keen on footing the bill for their prison stays.
