Five soldiers were injured in an industrial site fire in Mexico.

The blaze broke out along a 30-inch gas pipeline operated by Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) in the municipality of Reforma, Chiapas, on Monday afternoon, October 20.

Authorities said the incident took place at the injection point linking the Cactus Gas Processing Complex to its regulation and measurement station.

Footage shows towering flames rising from the burning structure as thick smoke billows into the sky.

Pemex said the fire was quickly contained by specialised personnel, who activated emergency response protocols to prevent it from spreading.

Five Mexican Army soldiers, who were near the site at the time, sustained injuries and were transported to the Military Hospital of Villahermosa for treatment.

The Secretary of National Defence (Sedena) confirmed that the troops had been conducting routine surveillance operations when the emergency occurred. Their condition has since been reported as stable.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway.
