Talayuela, Spain - October 22, 2025 A 20-year-old resident of Talayuela, Cáceres, is under investigation for alleged animal abuse after a dog was discovered in a state of abandonment. Agents from the Guardia Civil’s SEPRONA unit, accompanied by a veterinarian from Navalmoral de la Mata, inspected the property following reports of the dog’s neglect. Upon arrival, they heard the dog’s cries and found it tied with a short 40-centimeter rope, without access to water or food, and exposed to the elements. Only a small blanket provided minimal shelter for the American Bully. The veterinarian also observed injuries on the dog’s ears and around its eyes, noting poor hygiene and a strong odor from both the animal and its surroundings. A veterinary report was filed, and authorities began tracing the animal’s owner with support from local police. The Guardia Civil initiated criminal proceedings and requested judicial intervention to secure the dog’s welfare. The young man was identified and informed of the court’s decision. The dog was taken to the Asociación Cacereña para la Protección y Defensa Animal, where it is now under care. Following the investigation, the 20-year-old is being formally investigated for a suspected crime of animal abuse.
