The Hamas issued a statement in the early hours of Sunday summarizing the latest briefing by its chief negotiator, Khalil Al-Hayya, on the cease-fire in the Gaza Strip and the humanitarian situation there. Al-Hayya stated that Hamas accepts the deployment of United Nations forces to act as separation forces, border monitors, and monitors of the ceasefire in Gaza. He said Hamas' disarmament is still being discussed with the factions and mediators. The senior Hamas official stressed that Gaza's humanitarian issue is concerning and criticized Israel for continuing to obstruct the entry of aid. He added that Israel's violations put the ceasefire at risk of disruption. Noting that Hamas handed over 20 Israeli detainees 72 hours after the first phase of the cease-fire took effect, Al-Hayya said Hamas teams are entering a new area on Sunday to search for more remains of Israeli captives. According to Israel's Army Radio and Channel 12 News, an Egyptian team entered Gaza on Saturday with specialized equipment and engineering vehicles to help locate the remains of Israeli detainees. Egypt's Al-Qahera News TV confirmed that Egypt is providing logistical assistance and equipment for the search. Shotlist: Gaza City, Gaza Strip - Oct 20, 2025: 1.
