Hurricane Melissa’s Fierce Winds Lash Jamaican Coast Ahead of Landfall

This video, filmed by Scott, shows powerful winds whipping a Jamaican beach as Hurricane Melissa nears the island. In the 10-second clip, palm trees bend under the force of the approaching Category 4 storm, with turbulent seas and dark skies signaling worsening conditions.
With sustained winds of 140 mph, Melissa is forecast to bring catastrophic flooding and could become one of Jamaica’s strongest landfalls, according to the National Hurricane Center. Airports have been shut and emergency shelters opened across the island.
