Two members of the Australian women’s cricket team were allegedly stalked and sexually harassed by a motorcyclist while walking from their hotel to a café in Indore on Thursday morning.

Cricket Australia confirmed the incident, stating that the two players were “approached and touched inappropriately by a motorcyclist”, and that the matter was immediately reported to police by team security.

Madhya Pradesh Police identified the accused as Aqueel Khan, who was arrested late Thursday night after a bystander noted down his vehicle number. Officials said Khan was intoxicated and could have attacked the players. Authorities have decided to invoke the National Security Act (NSA) against him.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia condemned the act, calling it “a very condemnable but stray incident”. He added, “India is known for its hospitality. We appreciate the prompt action of Madhya Pradesh Police and assure that security protocols will be reviewed and strengthened if required.”

The incident occurred even as India hosts the ICC Women’s World Cup, raising concerns about player safety and public conduct.
