Gratitude to the Sun: Chhath Puja Festival Unfolds in Bihar, India
Thousands of Hindu devotees flocked to the bank of Falgu River in Bodhgaya, Bihar State, on 27 & 28 october Tuesday morning to bring the offerings as a part of the traditional Chhath Puja Festival.
Footage shows worshippers in traditional clothes gathering in the river and carrying baskets with offerings for the sun god Surya. They are also seen praying, painting faces with henna and performing rituals.
Poonam Devi local devotees said
This Chhath Puja is the festival of faith for Biharis. It teaches us that here we worship not only the rising sun but also the setting sun. We perform it with faith to fulfill all our wishes.
Ajay Kumar Singh said As you all know that the Chhat puja is the Mahaparwa of Bihar.It was coming from earliest period.My family also practicing the Chhat puja.
During the annual four-day Chhath Puja festival, Hindu believers gather on the banks of rivers to offer bamboo baskets full of wheat, milk, sugar cane, bananas and coconuts to the sun god Surya and his wife Usha to express gratitude and seek blessings.
