India: Gratitude to the Sun: The Heartwarming Chhath Puja Festival in Bihar Unveiled
On 28 October Tuesday Thousands of Hindu devotees gathered on the banks of the Falgu River in Bodhgaya, Bihar, for the Chhath Puja, a vibrant festival dedicated to the sun god Surya. Witness the colorful offerings, ancient rituals, and heartfelt prayers of the worshippers.
Footage shows worshippers in traditional clothes gathering in the river and carrying baskets with offerings for the sun god Surya. They are also seen praying, painting faces with henna and performing rituals.
A local devotee said This Chhath Puja is the festival of faith for Biharis. It teaches us that here we worship not only the rising sun but also the setting sun. We perform it with faith to fulfill all our wishes.
Local person said As you all know that the Chhat puja is the Mahaparwa of Bihar.It was coming from earliest period.My family also practicing the Chhat puja.
During the annual four-day Chhath Puja festival, Hindu believers gather on the banks of rivers to offer bamboo baskets full of wheat, milk, sugar cane, bananas and coconuts to the sun god Surya and his wife Usha to express gratitude and seek blessings.
