Albanian Parliament Speaker Niko Peleshi said in his opening remarks that the parliament would continue to lead the country’s integration process. He noted that for more than 10 years, members of the European Parliament and the Albanian Parliament had gathered in this forum to assess progress in Albania’s reform processes. Peleshi added that Albania was currently in a strong position, having opened negotiations for five clusters and preparing to open the last one. Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Elisa Spiropali emphasized that her country’s foreign and security policies were fully aligned with those of the EU. She stated that European integration was a deliberate choice for Albania, rooted in the nation’s values and vision, and that EU membership reflected Albania’s commitment to democracy, the rule of law, fundamental rights, and solidarity. The two-day “Albania–EU Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee Meeting” will discuss issues including Albania’s EU accession negotiations, foreign policy, good neighborly relations, regional cooperation, and developments in the economy, energy, environment, and tourism.
